BOD
Buck or Die National Majorette Competition Was created in 2012 with the primary goal of showcasing the majorette dance style. The dance event has evolved over the years and has become one of the largest dance competitions and one of the most sought out dance competitions in the majorette community. The event has evolved from hosting one event per year to now hosting 4 + events per year with as many as 50 plus teams competing at any given event. The majorette community oftentimes does not have a platform that only celebrates their style of dance, and it is essential that our community has a platform that targets who we are and exactly what it is that we do. So many people watched Lifetime's hit television show “ Bring It!” with zero understanding as to what we do as a community, and this national majorette competition circuit showcases the different types of styles that we utilize in our event circuit. These styles are, but are not limited to: Pom Pom, Field show, Creative Dance, Stand Battle, HBCU Division, Stomp and Shake, Hip Hop, Drill Team and so much more.
Our diverse panel of judges are qualified dance and choreographic professionals who have danced in all styles of dance as well as performed on some of the highest stages in the land. Being that majorette dance is a mixture of all styles of dance, it is important that our judges panel understand exactly what the majorette community is to be able to judge an event of such a magnitude. One of our largest goals within our competition circuit is to create awareness for our dance style and to place us on stages as large as the NCAA UDA Dance Championships.
Dance competitions such as Buck or Die National Majorette Competition is often overlooked because the style is not as main stream and as popular as others, however, since the televised TV series, “Bring It” it has exploded onto the market, we have over 15,000 majorette dance teams across the entire United States. This dance style is taking over the nation and will soon have majorette competitions as large as the Cheer association events that take place at Disneyland each year. Our national majorette competitions deserve a national stage in our event circuit to place our dancers on the highest level possible in dance.
